3 Things About Painting Edges
All edges should not be painted equal!
Some need to be sharp whereas some need to elusive.
Use of sharp or crisp edges all over the painting is a very common mistake seen in beginner level paintings.
If you want to increase the quality of your realistic paintings, you need to pay attention to how you paint the edges.
Here are 3 things that’ll make it easy for you:
- For the objects that should appear closer to the viewer, use sharp edges and for the objects that should appear to recede into the distance, use soft or fuzzy edges.
- Paint the edges of shadows sharp near the object that’s casting the shadow and softer and softer as they go away from that object.
- Look for edges not only in the outline of any shape but also inside it and paint them appropriately.
Following these steps consciously can do wonders to your paintings.
